Why are we still underestimating mental health

It’s surprising how many still consider mental health a secondary concern… Just last week, I spoke with someone who felt pressured to ignore their anxiety at work, thinking it was just part of the job. Why does this stigma persist, and how can we better support each other?

It’s frustrating to hear people still feel pressure to ignore their anxiety at work. Maybe if we normalized mental health days, things would improve? It could be a game changer in changing that stigma. What do you think could help those who’d feel guilty for taking a break?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

Normalizing mental health days is a solid idea. I’ve found that encouraging teammates to take breaks can help cut through that guilt — just a simple reminder that it’s okay to step away can make a big difference. What do you think is the best way to start that conversation at work?

‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌

But , it drives me nuts that people feel pressured to ignore anxiety at work. It might help if we start sharing resources like articles or tips for managing anxiety during work hours. Have you seen what people are doing with mindfulness apps? They can be really effective.
