Is speed really everything in data entry

I’ve been diving deep into data entry metrics lately and it seems like everyone is obsessed with speed. But I wonder, how much accuracy gets sacrificed for a few extra keystrokes per minute? I recently read that the ideal benchmark is around 95% accuracy — what do you all think? Are those numbers realistic in everyday tasks?

It drives me nuts how speed is prioritized over accuracy! I mean, if you’re churning out data entry at a crazy pace, are you really going to catch those errors? I’ve found that taking just a minute or two to double-check entries can save a ton of time correcting mistakes later.

Totally agree, accuracy is key! If speed leads to errors, what’s the point? I’d rather take an extra few minutes to ensure everything’s correct.
