Container number check digit quirk

Found out at work that those 11-character container IDs have a check digit calculated with a mod 11 rule, which explains why a single transposed character pops as invalid in CargoWise. Who else has seen this catch typos before they hit the dock?

I run scanned IDs through a quick Excel validator before CargoWise import — MOD 11 catches transposes early, and per ISO 6346 the ‘10 becomes 0’ quirk trips people (ISO 6346 - Wikipedia). Small caveat: clean case and strip hyphens, and if OCR is involved, only fix O/0 in the numeric part — saves me from fat‑finger Fridays. Are you seeing more letter swaps or digit swaps?
