Any courses that actually move the needle

I keep seeing $99 “advanced data entry” and Excel/Sheets certs, but the syllabi read like stuff we already do - basic validation, VLOOKUP, a token macro - am I missing anything real? If you’ve taken something that measurably improved speed or error rates (QA workflows, keyboard-driven shortcuts, import/clean routines, audit trails), which one and what specifically changed - I’m open to being wrong, just tired of paying for fluff. What’s worked for you?

A short Power Query course from Maven Analytics was the first thing that moved the needle for me — replaced my VLOOKUP/macro routine with query steps + column profiling, cutting weekly import/clean from about 80 min to about 35 and trimming errors about 25%, felt like swapping a mop for a Roomba. Are you mostly in Excel or Sheets? If Sheets, Apps Script + Data Cleanup to auto-validate on paste got me close to the same results.

Leila Gharani’s Power Query/Data Cleaning course was the first real jump — replaced my VLOOKUP tabs with a From Folder query + parameters, added Column Profiling and a Keep Errors branch as an audit log, and my rework dropped about 35% (felt like swapping duct tape for a toolbox). Quick win to try: build a template query that trims/cleans, merges on a key, and outputs a separate Errors table each import; are you mainly in Excel or Sheets, @RemoteJace?

Skip the $99 certs — the only thing that moved the needle for me was a weekend AutoHotkey crash course: hotstrings for common codes, form-fill snippets, and remapped nav keys cut entry time about 20% and reduced typos by keeping my hands off the mouse. If you’re on Windows, add a paste-clean regex for IDs and a one-key timestamp note to create quick audit breadcrumbs — it’s a small build that pays back fast.
